Castelli ceramic plate

Education
The birth of ceramics in Castelli is mainly due to the natural characteristics of the territory, in particular the abundant presence of clay pits, beech woods for wood and ovens, waterways, silica deposits. The ceramic tradition developed in Castelli already in the Etruscan era. Certainly favored by the presence of Benedictine monks who produce furnishings for everyday use. The first dated finds date back to the fifteenth century, but in reality it is impossible to say exactly when the ceramic production arose and established itself. It is from the second half of the 1500s that this art has experienced its period of maximum splendor. Thus ceramics became the only real economy, so much so that even today most of the population is devoted to this noble art.
