P. Rimšos

Education
Petras Rimša's sculpture "Lithuanian School 1864-1904" is a monument precious to the heart of every Lithuanian. Secret, Misery, Daractoric school - an unofficial educational institution in Lithuania in 1864-1904. Secret schools were created as a response to the Russian Empire's educational policy, which, after the uprising of 1863, aimed to teach only in Russian, thus bringing the Lithuanian population closer to the Russian state and away from the Polish influence. During the period of the press ban, Lithuanian was taught in "illegal" rural schools. These schools had no special premises and were taught in the house of one of the farmers, often moving from one hut to another.
